Design review of unitized curtain wall and high span cable-net façade at the podium, review of submittal drawings, factory inspections, site inspections and quality control.

Description

The 47 story structure is a monolithic glass tower with variable curved surface planes and straight recesses. The façade extends past the roof structure to create a mechanical enclosure and preserve the sightlines of the architecture. The podium features a mono directional 20 meter high free span cable-net glass façade with reinforced trusses and metal cladding.

Description

The project with a total built up area of 500,000 square feet is a proposed Hotel, Retail and Office block development in Ahmedabad. The hotel operator is the International hotel chain – Intercontinental Hotel Group and the hotel flag will be the Crowne Plaza brand. The façade incorporates Curtain wall, Composite curtain wall, Terrace pergola, Stone cladding and Shop front glazing. The architect has prepared a detailed design brief highlighting the various wall types and the preferred aesthetic look. Our Firm has recently been awarded this project and we have started work on ensuring the aesthetics preferred by the architects are matched with the corresponding material palette along with preparing a budgetary cost estimate for the clients benefit. We will coordinate a design charette soon to work out the façade details and elements.

Description

The project site is located in Gurgaon, India and is located 15km away from Delhi International Airport. The initial concept is to develop four buildings including 3 office towers and a retail block. An iconic office tower complex with high visibility is envisioned. The Office tower shall be 12 stories high, including ground floor, with maximum height of 60m. During our initial design brief meeting with the architects, four primary façade types were identified as a part of the typical towers. The façade elements include Unitized glass curtain wall featuring full height, floor to ceiling glass, minimal vertical sight lines and large horizontal sunshades cantilevered off the face of the primary curtain wall in one wall type. At the termination points of this wall type HOK envisions buttress walls. Wall Type Two (located at segmented curved elevation without sunshades, flat walls including major elevations, end elevations and insets) is comprised of unitized glass curtain wall featuring full height, floor to ceiling glass, minimal vertical sight lines and an expressed horizontal channel feature reveal setting back for the face of the glass 100-150mm. Other façade elements include vertical cantilevered glass fins and point fitting/ hybrid transparent system.
